The Quadraulic Vise, shown at
the right attached to the hydraulic tailstock unit with internal brake, is for use on
vertical and horizontal machining centers. This vise unit is capable of clamping on
the inside or outside surface of parts. There are two clamping stations on each of
the four faces. Aluminum or steel jaws can be ordered with this vise. Parts
the full length of the vise face can be held by utilizing one dead jaw and the opposite
end moving master jaw. This vise can also be used for
quick-change mounting and securing of fixturing sub-plates into position for
machining. Approximately 6 tons of clamping force can be applied with
this unit. |

The standard PROHOLDŽ
Quadraulic Vise System includes the Quadraulic Vise, a PROHOLDŽ tailstock unit with or without internal hydraulic brake, a
PROHOLDŽ external hydraulic pumping unit, and a full set
of top jaws (steel or aluminum, your choice). At this time the Quadraulic Vise
System is mounted to your 4th-axis dividing head, indexer or super spacer. In the
near future, PROHOLDŽ will offer a 4th-axis indexing head for a complete Quadraulic
Vise System package for vertical machining centers. This 4th-axis head will readily
mount to the standard PROHOLDŽ Quadraulic Vise System package being produced
now. The PROHOLDŽ Quadraulic Vise System gives you extra capabilities for a
definite increase in productivity that no other vise unit on the market today can provide.

Standard PROHOLDŽ Quadraulic
Vises can be used on vertical (this model shown below) or horizontal machining
centers. A Toolroom Quadraulic Vise, a variant of the standard
Quadraulic vise, integrates the patented PROHOLDŽ chucking stations on different
faces of the Quadraulic. Features of the custom Quadraulic Vise are
explained below. |

DIMENSIONS:
Length of vise = 20 inches
Overall table length used with vise mounted to tailstock = 28 inches
Minimum height from table to centerline of vise = 6 inches
Note: Height from table to centerline can be increased with
riser blocks

The standard and Toolroom
Quadraulic vises have the capability to clamp parts either on the inside/internal
and/or outside/external surfaces of the workpiece. Each of the four faces on the
standard Quadraulic has two clamping stations. The standard Quadraulic
uses jaws that snap into place on dovetailed moving master jaw ball detents. The top
jaws can be used for engaging a part on its external surface for outside clamping or
chucking, or an interior surface of a part for internal clamping or chucking. Two
parts can be held on each face of the vise unit, either internally or externally
clamped. Larger parts that span the full length and width of a vise face, and more,
can also be clamped by using only one of the moving master jaws and a dead jaw at the
opposite end of the vise. |

The Toolroom Quadraulic Vise is
what every tool room and millwright shop in the world should have on their vertical
milling machine to eliminate endless setups and teardowns for each different part that
crosses the machine table. It has different workholding mechanisms on each
face. The first face has one or more 3-jaw chucking stations on it for clamping
round parts either on the ID or OD. The second face has one or more 2-jaw
chucking/clamping stations for holding rectangular parts, or irregular shaped parts
through the use of machined soft jaws. The third face can either have a basic
drilled and tapped hole grid pattern for the use of modular fixturing components, or, one
or more 2-jaw chucking/clamping stations that are orientated 90° out from the 2-jaw
chucking stations on the second face. The fourth face has the standard
Quadraulic 2-station vise, as seen above, that can hold parts equal to the full
length and width of the vise face or more. The Toolroom Quadraulic Vise can be
ordered with any mix of the above chucking configurations the customer needs for his
particular situation. The 2-, and 3-jaw chucking stations on each face of a Toolroom
Quadraulic Vise can also be ordered for manual operation instead of hydraulic
actuation. |
