PROHOLD® workholding fixtures, both
manual and hydraulic, provide a completely new automated and innovative way of holding a
whole geometric family of different parts on horizontal and vertical machining centers,
vertical turret lathes and horizontal boring mills. Each PROHOLD® fixture can be used for
high- or low-volume production of large families of parts. Each fixture is designed
to be extremely rigid for each and every part to be machined, and can be quickly changed
over to hold each different part it was designed to hold in every family. The
underlying mechanical designs inherent in each PROHOLD® are very reliable and rugged time-tested concepts that cost far
less than fixturing systems utilizing complex computerized approaches to
workholding. PROHOLD® fixturing eliminates the need for makeshift fixtures utilizing
manual clamps on interchangeable tooling plates. Nevertheless, the old modular
fixturing components, including hydraulic clamps, can still be used on a PROHOLD® with or without using the
integral PROHOLD® chucking system. A quick change of the jaws is all that is necessary for a
different setup. Indexible PROHOLD® models even eliminate the "A" and "B" loading
sequence so all five sides can be machined with "A" load only. PROHOLD® has eliminated the
"chip-catching" tendency of old style fixtures by completely eliminating all
external and internal hydraulic tubing and fittings from the fixture.
