Shaft Chuck Described

The application is the heavy duty turning of a shaft. In the first operation the clamping diameter is turned, ”between centers.“ Then it is clamped on that diameter for the subsequent heavy duty turning.

The Clever details of the design cannot be detected from the out-side: One motion of the cylinder moves the clamping head forward, clamps and pulls back towards the face driver. Perfect! Even though this is a compact design, it retains the well-known SPANNTOP® „bite.“ The chuck is actuated with a simple, low cost single-acting hydraulic cylinder that contributes to the surprisingly economical price of this shaft chuck.
