This patented system from
EDI Tooling Systems installs in less than five minutes to Convert
a CNC lathe chuck into a precision-length* collet system using
readily available 5C collets.
ACCURACY:
The Master Jaw System is manufactured to exacting tolerances
of less than .001 TIR. Users report typical installed runouts
in the range of .0008 to .0015 TIR. This may vary depending on
quality of collets used and condition of lathe chuck.
Experience has shown the
system to be suitable for better than 95% of first operation
work and better than 85% of second operation work.
The initial cost for the
system is much lower than for other precision length collet systems.
5C collets are less costly than other collet types and are readily
available through most tool supply outlets. Consider also the
savings that result from being able to install and remove the
Master Jaw System without the hassle of removing the chuck. The
initial low cost and tremendous time savings over the life of
the Master Jaw System make it an excellent and essential investment.
This ingenious system consists
of a collet adapter which radially and axially locates the 5C
collet and three jaws which actuate the collet. It is installed
as quickly and easily as installing a set of top jaws! The chuck,
draw tube, etc. remain on the machine and are not disturbed.
In addition to tremendous time saving the system offers several
other benefits:
- Elimination of the need
to drill and bore soft jaws for small diameter parts. No more
broken boring bars, tapered holes and wasted time!
- Quick changeover to different
stock size and shapes; there is a 5C collet to cover round stock
from sizes .0469 to 1.125, as well as hex, square, and metric
sizes.
- Easy installation of collet
stop for chucking work, or works equally well with bar feed or
bar puller.
- Change back to soft jaws
or hard jaws for larger diameter parts in five minutes or less.
