Indexer Subsystem

The Indexer Subsystem Package gives VMC users the capability to machine multiple sides of a workpiece during a single clamping operation. This increases the number of machining operations that can be performed during each machining cycle. Since the workpiece is machined complete with less handlings, finished part accuracy is increased. The use of the Indexer Subsystem also concentrates a number of workholding stations into a very compact footprint, which presents more parts to the spindle. By doing this, the number of unproductive spindle movements (tool changes and rapid feeds) during a production run is reduced. The benefits of the Indexer Subsystem are two-fold-it increases the utilization of a VMC and it's operator plus it reduces the overall manufacturing cost per part.
The package consists of a Chick Multi-lok Workholding System mounted to a customer provided rotary table. The interface between the two items is a custom made indexer adapter plate. The opposing end of the Multi-Lok Workholding System is supported by Chick's tailsock and stubshaft assembly. A custom riser is included to raise the center height of the workholding system to 200mm for macimum swing clearance. Finally, a custom subplate provides the interface between the subsystem and the VMC table. All custom items are designed and made to order by Chick's Application Engineers. The final product is then shipped to the Customer with all necessary mounting and locating hardware, ready to be installed to the VMC table. Because each Subsystem is made to a customer's individual specification the configuration of each product will be optimized. Any Multi-Lok Workholding System can be converted into an Indexer Subsystem Package.
